Rooted to the ground by a foundation of stilts, the Forest House is a modern campsite from the Northern California forests. The home is comprised of a collection of small cottages, connected by a wooden path. These little structures house various functions including a kitchen, sleeping quarters, and a bun house, and common areas for gathering and diningroom. The timber frames are topped by canvas roofs, giving the rooms a tent standard only with the modern conveniences of home. Direct connections to the outside are given by grand sliding doors, while large glazed openings allow for views of the surrounding treetops to the inside.

• Inspired by the traditional farmsteads of Flint Hills, the Illinois Creek Ranch is a contemporary take on the design architecture of Kansas’ tallgrass prairie.
